(Current Sounds: 'Girls Not Grey' by AFI)
Musings and ...holy, she read a short story?!:
The Star by Ester Claes is a short story I just recently read via online (www.short-stories.co.uk/)
Its a very...messed up three pager. First off, the main character, the 'star', is a little bit stuck up for her own good. Showbiz, promoting herself by new fragrances and music, has gone waaaay too far up her head and she doesn't know what's really important (Which, in the story, is a radiation poisoning and war.) Typically, she's not paying any mind to the troubles around her (referring this as 'There's nothing wrong in LA!). It pretty much shocked me that such a greediness exists within such people.
Around the end, her father and mother are even sick, and she still minds the carpet from incoming puke attacks. She doesn't notice ANY of the dangers around her--she still looks at her Grammy and gold records and reassures herself that shell still be a star the next day.
... within all honesty, that's oblivious to the EXTREME right there. >_<
Agaaah. I'll read some more this long weekend (I'm interested in 'The Crimson Candle' by Ambrose Bierce.)
...if I survive the dental appointment, that is -_-
